Snowshoeing
The Hocheck-Schutzhaus is a refuge in Lower Austria near the municipal border between Furth an der Triesting and Altenmarkt an der Triesting. It stands just below the summit of the Hocheck at an altitude of 1030 m above sea level. A. and is operated by the ÖTK section Triestingtal. Immediately behind the shelter is the Meyringer-Warte.

The refuge is located on the municipal border between Furth and Altenmarkt an der Triesting at an elevation of 1,037 meters. The refuge has been closed since 2022 due to a legal dispute (between the tenant and the Austrian Tourist Board).

Hiking
The northeasternmost peak in the Alps, reaching over 1,000 meters. Here, the foresters leave nothing standing! Decades ago, the forest floor was still full of snowdrops, which fell victim to the harvester.
Only on the Kienberg can one still find an exceptionally dense density of snowdrops. The Altenmarkt side is largely beech forest. On the far side, there is more pine forest with heather and serviceberry as undergrowth. Small purple gentians can be found on the summit meadow.
