Reaching the island is somewhat adventurous, taking a beautiful red sand track (with a 4WD!). A shuttle tour is also available directly from Broome. The entire pearl farming process is explained in English, including morning tea, an electric boat ride, and lunch. Everything from the oysters is processed. The latest development, its use as a bone filler for osteoporosis, is currently in the approval process for human trials. An absolutely worthwhile and informative excursion.
