In the middle of the picturesque Feldberg lake landscape, at the southwest entrance to the village, a tower Dutchman shows visitors the way to Carwitz.
The Carwitzer Mühle replaced the Schmidtsche Mühle, which had previously burned down, in 1892. The imposing structure lost its wings as early as 1937. Since then it has been operated first by a steam engine, which eventually gave way to an electric motor. In use as a compound feed mill since 1960, the storage facilities built in 1972 were demolished as part of the renovation work. The new cap is one of the most striking restorations of the mill, which was shut down in 1990.
Today the mill is open to the public and offers a wonderful view. A small cultural highlight in the Carwitzer Mühle is regularly celebrated with an art market.
