Despite the low rain clouds, we decided to go to Titisee and venture around the Titisee with the kids. We were well prepared and what should happen ?! More than getting wet couldn't have happened to us ...And indeed: We were lucky and (as the pictures show) the clouds slowly cleared and gave some nice views of the lake. The kids were proud of their first circumnavigation of the lake and at the end of the day they still had the strength to accompany their mom during the Black Forest kitsch windowshopping in town.

Today we went to one of the attractions in the Black Forest: The Ravennaschlucht. A narrow and steep side valley of the Höllental, through which the wild Ravenna brook cuts its way over many cascades and waterfalls. (hochschwarzwald.de/attraktionen/ravennaschlucht-1864e0c77d)Sounds great (many others probably thought too!) And the narrow paths were almost too crowded on this sunny day.It was still beautiful and therefore (almost too) many photos were taken along the route. Our starting point (Hinterzarten) already provided some postcard-ready views. Then it went further and further down into the gorge. At the end of the original valley, the gorge is crossed by the 37 meter high Ravennabrücke, the viaduct of the Höllentalbahn, and you arrive at Hofgut Sternen. The Hofgut is an old Steigen tavern, which served as the residence and food of horse farmhands and road workers. The "Alte Steige" and the Höllental have been important connecting routes since the Middle Ages and even the Austrian Emperor's daughter Marie-Antoinette stopped here in 1770 on her bridal trip from Vienna to Paris. The way out of the valley led us past many old saws, mills and a rope factory - all the way back to Hinterzarten.

After the hike on the Hasenhorn we went spontaneously to the Todtnau waterfalls. At 97 meters, these waterfalls are among the highest in Germany. Here the Stübenbach plunges down over 4 steps.Always with a view of the waterfall, we follow the paths over bridges, stairs and footbridges.Originally we wanted to hike this highlight over the Wasserfallsteig but this was in our holiday week largely closed or "diverted" due to forest work ...

A great children's trail! Along the way, the adventure of the elves and their friends is told and they are helped in their search for the magic stone. We take the chairlift to the mountain station on the Hasenhorn and then hike along the well-marked path back to the valley station. There is a lot to discover, but the path is now and then quite narrow and challenging for small children over roots and stones. Our youngest was therefore often carried. The story of the magic stone is available in an accompanying children's book at the valley station. All experiences and play stations can be found here and we took it home as a nice memory.

A roadside discovery ... and in fact we had this beautiful waterfall to ourselves in the afternoon. The children could go on a discovery tour and also test the water extensively. Due to the associated volume, we have probably lost every chance of a chamois sighting.

The first day of your holiday, the sun is shining and everyone is motivated to the tip of their hair!
So let's go up to the summit of the Feldberg - the highest point in Baden-Württemberg.
We start on the narrow summit trail and wind our way uphill. The wonderful panoramic views always invite you to linger. Once at the top, the view from the Feldberg tower and the (bizarre) ham museum beckons. We leave the Feldbergbahn on the left and continue to the summit. At the highest point today, hikers cavort and so after a short break, it goes downhill again towards the Todtnauer Hütte.A great first day and everyone is already a little in love with the Black Forest. We want more ...

Today a trip to the Hohenbruch Wildlife Park was on the program. 🐺🦌🐑In the park, Nordic domestic breeds but also wild animals that originally live a little closer to the Arctic Circle can be observed. The entire area is very spacious.

The round in the adjacent forest was involuntarily shortened by a very aggressive mosquito attack. Thanks @Freizeitliese for the inspiration!

After a long period of abstinence, we went out on the water in a canoe again today.🛶🌊 For the first time with the kids: They can do it (!) - We were sure of that. Fortunately, we haven't forgotten it either. 😉The short tour with a swim stop (s) made everyone want more.

The start and finish of this tour is the "border town" and "former smuggler's nest" Fürstenwerder. In the extreme northwest of Brandenburg it is on the border with Mecklenburg. The customs barrier between Prussia and Mecklenburg ran here in the previous century, and in the 13th century it was secured by a well-preserved city wall.Today we will also cross the border between the federal states several times and start first through the Berliner Tor, along the shore zone of the Great Lake through the beautiful landscape formed by the Ice Age. On the first few kilometers between Fürstenwerder and Fiebigershof we are lucky and see a sea eagle soaring nearby and gliding across the lake. We can still hear his calls later as we meander on the rustic paths on the circular path around the large lake. During a short break at the smaller Kornowsee, it then even glides clearly over our heads.Impressed by this experience, we continue to hike through the almost deserted, beautiful late summer landscape in which the autumn has already scattered first impressions. Every now and then a quiet bathing area opens up along the way and so this relaxed round ends with a swim stop and snack back in Fürstenwerder. With the watchful eye, however, you can still discover some highlights there.
