The sculpture of the woman on the lookout in Nieuwpoort is a creation of the painter and sculptor Antoon Luyckx. This statue, made in 2002, shows a woman gazing at the endless sea. The artwork is inspired by nature, folklore and religion, themes that often recur in Luyckx's work.
