The talking tombstones of Föhr, also narrative tombstones, are in the cemeteries of the St. Laurentii Church in Süderende, the St. Johannes Church in Nieblum and the St. Nikolai Church in Boldixum (today a district of Wyk auf Föhr). Similar objects can be found on the neighboring island of Amrum. All of them are under monument protection. Their inscriptions tell of family and professional life as well as special events in the life and honorary offices of the deceased. With 265 tombstones and tombstones, the St. Johannis cemetery has the largest inventory of historically valuable tombstones.

All of the cemeteries around the three main churches on the island have very interesting tombs. If you take some time to explore, you will always discover some curious résumés on the gravestones.
