The Höftdeich pumping station on the Maschinenfleet canal in St. Jürgensland was built at the end of the 19th century according to plans by Building Inspector Tolle (Royal Prussian Water Management Directorate Blumenthal) and went into operation in 1894. The three steam-powered centrifugal pumps had a pumping capacity of 14 m³/s.
