At this location on the Spiegelberg hill in Stade stood the magnificent castle of the Count of Stade
and Henry the Lion.
Here the Duke sought refuge in 1181, his son Henry resided,
and Agnes Hohenstaufen died (1204).
The citizens' desire for freedom destroyed the castle.
