    Hiking

A ride on the Gelmerbahn will definitely give you a good deal of thrills. Even though things are not as fast as on a roller coaster, the perspective is the same. After all, the Gelmerbahn with a maximum gradient of 106 percent is the steepest open funicular in Europe. In the past, construction material was transported here, today, as a hiker, you can shorten the ascent to the picturesque Gelmersee.

    Hiking

Once an insider tip, the Gelmerbahn funicular railway is now known and loved worldwide. Since the opening of the new Stoosbahn funicular railway, it's "only" Europe's steepest open funicular railway, but that doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment - I promise.

From Handeck, the climb is steep and swift to Lake Gelmer. From there, there are great hiking opportunities around Lake Gelmer (including the Gelmerhütte).

For those feeling brave, you can take the cable car back. Alternatively, you can also take the beautiful hike via "Chüenzentennlen" back to Handeck to complete the circular hike.

    Hiking

The Gelmerbahn rattles and backwards for 12 minutes up to the turquoise mountain lake.
An incline of 106 percent makes it the undisputed steepest open funicular in Europe. The former works railway for the transport of construction material, which weighs tons, is a marvel of technology and offers an unforgettable mountain railway experience. Once at the top, we recommend a walk around the wild and romantic Gelmersee or a hike up to the Gelmerhütte.
