Roggensteder church is over 750 years old. Special treasures of the church include the font altar from the 16th century, the baptismal font created by the Bentheimer type around 1250, the crucifix on the north wall from the 14th century and the Rohlfs organ from 1833. Around the church lies rye cemetery.

The original vault of the church collapsed in the 17th century; the pulpit was built in the 15th century; the altar (16th century) was previously in the church of Dornum.

The foundations of the tower are almost 3m deep, 1.4m thick and made of granite. The walls of the tower are more reminiscent of a defensive tower, due to their thickness, than a bell tower.

The Protestant church was built in the 13th century. It was built of bricks on a granite foundation.
