The Hochholzer See lies in the middle of the Hochholz landscape protection area. The forest lake with its reed beds, banks and sand slopes invites you to linger and relax.
Although it is quite tempting to use the lake for a refreshing swim, it is forbidden all year round for both humans and dogs for good reason. Corresponding signs indicate this on site. Boating on the lake is also prohibited. Storage and letting dogs run is prohibited in the entire bank area, from the waterline to the top of the embankment.
The city of Walldorf points out that the Hochholzer See is located in a landscape conservation area and is a valuable habitat for fish and waterfowl that must not be disturbed. The reed fringe in particular is a very sensitive area where water birds breed.
