Bike Touring Highlight
The height of the Bishopric is a 131.2 m high elevation between the Cospudener See and the BELANTIS amusement park Leipzig south of Leipzig. The name goes back to the forest area "diocese", which was before the beginning of the mining activity for the lignite mining in the immediate vicinity. As part of the EXPO 2000, a 35 m high observation tower was erected on the diocese's height, which should remind us of its former industrial slates. From the height of the diocese to the visitor, the Cospudener See in the northeast and the flooded former Zwenkau opencast mine in the south offer a unique panorama of the contrast between the already completed and refurbished mining landscape.
