The Odeon of Nikopolis is a significant historical site in the Epirus region. The ancient city of Nikopolis ("City of Victory") was founded in 31 BC by Emperor Augustus (Octavian). It was established to commemorate his decisive victory in the naval battle of Actium over Mark Antony and Cleopatra.
The Roman Odeon is located in the core archaeological area and was used at the time for theatrical performances, musical lectures, and assemblies. Over the centuries, it was further expanded and renovated by various figures, including Emperor Hadrian.
