After a long legal battle, the Transfiguration Cathedral (Catedrala Schimbarea la Faţă), used by the Romanian Orthodox community, reverted to the Greek Catholic Church, which was banned under communism, in 1998. This new Orthodox church, the Transfiguration Church (Biserica ortodoxă Schimbarea la Față), was built. The church's Neo-Byzantine distinctiveness lies in its original interior, particularly in the style of its mosaic icons, which are very rare in Orthodoxy.
