The chapel was at the end of 2 st. war burned. All years after the war, efforts were made to restore the chapel on Velika planina. After many years of efforts to obtain permits, an action to restore the chapel took place in early May 1988. For the first-day holidays, the foundations were excavated, and after three months the chapel was ready for blessing. There was no man who would not be willing to help with the renovation. On the same day, when the chapel was blessed, they were transferred from the Holy Sepulcher to the procession. She sees a picture of Maria Snezna, which was stored there since the end of the war. On 7 August, the chapel was blessed by the Archbishop of Dr. Alojzij Šuštar before more than 6,000 people.

The Marija Snežna (Our Lady of the Snow) chapel is a must when visiting Velika Planina. It is located on a hill above the shepherds' village, where it stood before the Second World War. At the end of the conflict it was set on fire by the German military and rebuilt in 1988 on the proposal of the locals. In the summer, during the pasture season, Holy Masses are celebrated every Sunday. Several thousand faithful come annually for the midnight mass on Christmas Eve, while its feast day is celebrated on 5 August.
