The Cathedral of the Annunciation, also known as the Little Cathedral, was built between 1926 and 1936, modeled on St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, hence its name. In 1948, the communist regime banned the activities of the Greek Catholic Church, and the church was handed over to the Greek Orthodox Church. The Romanian Greek Catholic Church has repeatedly demanded the return of the building, but this has not yet happened.
