From October 1, 1887, the “Rahmedetalbahn” began its journey from the station forecourt in Altena in the Lennetal, where the connection to the Ruhr-Sieg route built by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft was established, and ran 14 kilometers up the valley to to the KAE train station in Lüdenscheid. In the course of this route, a short railway tunnel with a length of 55 meters was built shortly before the Steinerne Brücke station, which is still available and is now used as a garage.
