This is the alternative climb up Cheddar – off-road! It's a real challenge from the town up, first a steep lane before draggy grassland climbing, then the rocky forested section.Don't be ashamed to walk, this part is tough! You'll be rewarded when you near the top as this climb offers brilliant views over South Somerset that the gorge climb simply does not.

Epic on a gravel bike - although gets v rough for the higher section of the West Mendip Way - nice firm and fast grass section at the bottom. My new favourite way to drop off the Mendips and on to the Levels
