The Pohl small fort was located at an altitude of about 337 meters at an exposed point on the Limes, where it abruptly changed its direction to east-northeast at east by about 75 degrees in order to continue on its path to the south-east. Already the archaeologist and officer Karl August von Cohausen [1] noticed this militarily significant position. Here, too, a road coming from the Rhine valley to the west came upon an old long-distance connection, which led from the lower Lahn valley to the Taunus. The safeguarding of this important point in terms of traffic geography, of the resulting boundary crossing and of the "wedge of the terrain" formed by the alteration of the boundary, was the responsibility of the garrison crew.

In today's townscape is the (not more visible and partially overbuilt) Bodendenkmal on the northeastern outskirts of the community, in the area in which the school road leaves the place in the direction of Lollschied.

The Romans were already familiar with serial construction, see photo of the Limes Tower near Hönningen am Rhein
