The rock tower with the small staircase, shown several times in the photos, is the Freedom Rock. It was inaugurated on the night of June 30 to July 1, 1930, as part of a liberation celebration with the inscription "We are free!" This date marks the return of independence after Königstein had previously been under Allied occupation.
