From here you have an impressive view of the Delta Works, which was built in 1953 after the devastating storm surge. Strictly speaking, this is just the Oosterschelde barrage, but as the largest part of the storm surge protection it is usually called simply Delta Works. Incidentally, along the Delta Works you can cycle over on a bridge to the island of North Beveland.

The Oosterschelde barrage (Dutch Oosterscheldekering) is part of the Delta Works, which are mainly in the Dutch province of Zeeland to protect from storm surges and floods. The building, partly dike and partly mobile barrier systems, was built between the islands of Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland (Wikipedia).
