Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The Oosterscheldekering is perhaps one of the most impressive Delta works. The storm surge barrier is approximately 9 kilometers long. Halfway through the building is the work island Neeltje Jans, a nice information and amusement park.

Here you drive a part of the whole Zeeland spanning delta cycle route.
On the way there are always information booths on the importance of dams and
Bridges pointed.

A journey in the delta is inseparable from information about the origin of this delta, the nature living there. The flood disaster of 1953, the construction of the Delta Works, the past and new innovative techniques and the development of nature in the Delta are the topics that the target group will "experience".

The Oosterschelde barrage (Dutch Oosterscheldekering) is part of the Delta Works, which are mainly in the Dutch province of Zeeland to protect from storm surges and floods. The structure, partly dike and partly mobile barrier systems, was built between the islands of Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland (Wikipedia).

From the bike path you have a great view of the open sea and the Oosterschelde. A stop on the island of Neeltje Jans for a visit to the Delta Park or for a break on the North Sea beach is very worthwhile.

Nice tour, which we have often driven. One half of course you always have a headwind. There are plenty of places to take a break along the way. We needed 3 hours driving time.
