The hiking trail begins behind the Kalser Tauernhaus and initially leads gently through sparse pine forests. The nice thing is that the path quickly climbs over rocks that were placed specifically for the trail. Then, as it climbs, it continues over rocky steps and scree to the Dorfersee lake. The path is always very easy to see and follow.

If you're afraid of the long walk from the entrance to the Dorfertal valley to the Kalser Tauernhaus, you can take a taxi there.
