Tips

  • It is a keystone (barrel roof) from a Roman grave, made of semi-cylindrical basalt stone. The Roman L. Apronius Secco erected this tombstone during his lifetime, as the Latin text states. The stone was found around 1790 in the castle ruins and, due to its exceptional hardness, served as an icebreaker on a pillar of the Liesertal Bridge before its value was discovered by chance during construction work.
