Enking's mill in Emsbüren
The old wooden post mill was dilapidated when this more permanent structure was built in 1802: five stories high made of Bentheim sandstone. Rye has been ground here since then, and the Enking family uses it to produce their famous pumpernickel according to a tried and tested recipe. Visitors can try it in the café - for example the incomparable black bread cake.
The inside of the mill has also been authentically preserved: with wooden stairs and ladders between the five floors, with a grinding stone, scales, pulley blocks and other accessories. After registration, there are guided tours through the technical monument.
