The "Tobira Pass" began right outside Matsumoto and stretched for about 23 km and 1,100 meters of elevation. The average gradient was 6%, but there were sections with gradients of up to 13%. The road was light on traffic, making the ride pleasant. The descent was rough in places, but very quiet and without car traffic.
