Svendborg Station is not only a transportation hub, but also a living piece of the city's history. Located directly at Klosterplads 9-10, it connects the pedestrian zone with the harbor, making it the heart of the city.
It opened in 1876, along with the opening of the Svendborg Railway line
to Odense. The main building was designed by the Danish architect N.P.C. Holsøe
and completed in 1878. The solid brick facade and clearly structured forms are typical of the railway architecture of the time.

Svendborg is the end of the Odense – Svendborg railway line, which connects the city to the Danish railway system. From Svendborg, railcars of the DSB MQ series run at least every hour to Odense via Kværndrup andringen.
