Small water bottle is enough. You can refill several times from the sources.

Flashlight and waterproof shoes should not falter here. The paths on the Kevadas are narrow (with oncoming traffic) and slippery. The tunnel at the end of the walk is kang, dark and can be at least a few feet high in many places

    Nice tour!
However, as it is touted as an absolute highlight of the many travel agencies, a start time is recommended at 13:00 clock. The last bus leaves at 6:30 pm for the parking lot! The way back from the forester's lodge up to the parking lot is 2 km paved road - boring for children, to which constant, more or less steeply rising!

Beautiful and easily walkable. But: There is a lot of oncoming traffic on narrow paths and the ascent back requires a lot of fitness!

Very narrow paths along the levadas are worth making on the way to the 25 springs. Please be careful with oncoming traffic. We climbed partly on the edge of the levadas to avoid it.

Great levada hike to the 25 Fontes, which flow here as more or less large waterfalls into a basin, which is unfortunately very overcrowded. Arriving very early is recommended here, because otherwise you will constantly collide with the guided groups and have to wait forever.
Then it is worth taking a detour to the adjacent high plateau, where the locals like to spend their free time.

Avoid overcrowding by planning an early evening hike. Ask the locals when it gets dark on the day then allow approximately 3 to 3.5 hours for the walk, then add on any time for a lunch break to avoid walking in the dark (torch is needed for the tunnel, which is quite long) Most arranged tours are earlier in the morning and will be completed by the time you start.

Best start early in the morning. Route is busy.

Start as early as possible to be there before the tourist buses. On a section there is a parallel path to avoid the oncoming hikers. Use this on the way back.

There are 25 springs falling down in a small mountain lake. A really great experience.

Levada path sometimes very narrow. Good sure-footedness and good hiking footwear are very advantageous here.
A wonderful hike that we can only recommend. With the bus in front of the hotel picked up and driven to the starting point, was still the relaxed part 😎. From there it went on by foot. Partly on paved roads and then on the island-typical hiking trails. Good footwear is also mandatory here, because the paths were not always so good "walkable". Partly it was only in a queue in succession, hoping that no oncoming traffic arises. If that was the case, it was time to move feet in, move your back towards the rock and belly.
On the whole, this has been a moderate hike that requires a bit of fitness. Try it! And special thanks go to our hiking guide Anna!

Together with the rider's tunnel or the Levada do Alecrim a wonderful round.
Anyone who wants to do a worthwhile hike in the corner in a mammoth tour can do the same:
(enough time and good condition required)

Unique experience. Unfortunately, however, very crowded on the "one-lane" routes

Only start after 15 o'clock ... then hardly any people are on the way.

You should be sure-footed if you make the Levada hike. Definitely a nice experience. :)

The tour to the 25 sources is certainly a highlight about which you are happy if you did it. Although it is actually a walk, it still requires good physical condition and endurance. Finally, you walk on rather rough roads. But that's exactly what the ambitious hiker wants - excitement and experiences. You'll get that, though it depends on which direction you start the hike. So it is possible with or without the approximately 200 m long tunnel - which is a highlight in itself. And once you get there, you will not fail to join a second tour - you will automatically find the signposting - with a truly beautiful, giant waterfall. In any case, pure watchwood. It is therefore recommended to take something to drüberziehen with.
    Have fun 👍👁👁💧

Partly quite narrow paths next to the departure (but always secured by ropes in the worst places), but we are always rewarded with a great view.

The path is easy to walk. Probably one of the most popular, if not the most visited Levadawanderweg.
    Accordingly, much traffic is expected.

Did the tour on our penultimate day due to the many enthusiastic comments here and I'm disappointed. I have made 8 other treks on Madeira, which had more impressive highlights to offer. The worst thing was the whole people who constantly came to meet you on the narrow Levadapfad. You could not enjoy the nature, because you had to constantly pay attention to the way.

Very unusual formations and special light. But only fun when you're alone. ;-)

The hike should not be done in a large group.
