Kunreuth Castle

In Kunreuth you can see the only moated castle in Franconian Switzerland. The location in the valley allowed - in contrast to the castles on rocks or mountain spurs - a generous construction and inclusion of the economic buildings in the wall in the form of a bailey.
The present exterior garden gate of the castle stands on the site of the entrance to the former bailey. It was surrounded by a ditch and protected by an enclosure wall, some of which still stands. A remnant of this fortification is a small round tower at the right corner. Within the outer bailey were formerly barn, stable, milk vault, economy building, carriage house and hunting lodge. Adjacent to the outer bailey is the moat, the inner moat.
Unfortunately, you can only view the castle from the outside. It is privately owned and there are no guided tours;
