Interesting chapel, where you can see great lighting effects in the interior.

A chapel on the edge of the forest. Interesting and definitely worth a detour. With rest stop.

The asphalt chapel was designed and built on the occasion of the Upper Bavarian Culture Days in Altötting in 2001. Since June 2002 it has stood at the edge of the forest near Etsdorf/OPf in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach and is accessible all year round. It is the only building that consists exclusively of asphalt (mastic asphalt). Sacrificial candles can be lit in it. Every year at the beginning of May, the asphalt chapel festival takes place, with the blessing of a new artist's cross on the "Kreuze-Weg". The small concert series 1:12 has existed since 2014 – each on a Sunday morning. Over Christmas 2022 you can see the "Christmas tree ball sky" again. There are films from the asphalt band festivals and the 1:12 concerts. 2002 to 2022 +++ 20 years ASPHALT CHAPEL Etsdorf
