The Dirnburg Castle was located on a ridge between the Tauern and Virgen valleys and today only exists as a ruin. Zedlach was originally divided into two village centers, Oberdrum and Unterdrum, and developed into an independent village with its own infrastructure, separate from the Matrei market town.
