Alt Langerwisch was first mentioned in a document in 1287 (alterius Langherwisch), with the name Wische referring to a peat-rich meadow that separated Old and New Langerwisch. In addition to agriculture, trade and crafts were primarily practiced in this street-green village. The village green was the center for many decades and centuries. Here, between the manor house (Old Castle, now the Asado Restaurant) and the former church, is the Truhe Inn, a butcher's shop, benches (including the digital carpool bench), and, in the center, a memorial stone for the 17 Old Langerwisch citizens who fell in World War I.
