The Duivelsberg is a unique nature reserve in the hilly border region between Berg en Dal and the German border. This former estate is now a protected nature reserve managed by the Dutch Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer) and is known for its steep slopes, sunken forest paths, and extensive deciduous forests full of beech and oak trees.

The landscape was formed during the Ice Age, with moraines, elevation changes of over 75 meters, and exceptional biodiversity. You'll find rare plants such as wood anemone, lily of the valley, and Solomon's seal, and it's home to deer, woodpeckers, and pine martens, among others.

The name "Duivelsberg" may sound ominous, but the area is actually exceptionally peaceful and atmospheric. There are several viewpoints, including one overlooking the Wylermeer lake and the forests towards Germany.

Besides nature, there is also culture: the Mergelhuis once stood on the summit, and nearby are remnants of old border defenses. During World War II, the Duivelsberg played a role in Operation Market Garden.

Currently, August 2025, little of the view can be seen because the hedge is very high.
