In 1595 the partial demolition of the old church and the construction of the new church began. Only parts of the old medieval church have been preserved. A medieval wooden wall cabinet from around 1400 has been preserved from the medieval church. The solemn inauguration of the new parish church took place shortly before Christmas 1600 (Wikipedia).

The Skt. Marie Church was expanded to its present size by Duke Hans the Younger in the years 1595-1600.

In the bright church interior, you can enjoy the pulpit from 1599, as well as altar panels from 1618 and a duke's chair from 1625, as well as a cast-iron baptismal font from 1600 and a crucifix from 1500.

The church is closed to visitors during the service!
