The town has pretty half-timbered houses and Renaissance buildings. The district on the Aubach is very picturesque. The watchtower with bay window and the tithe farm date from 1670. In 1525 a massacre of revolting peasants took place here (German Peasants' War). Scherwiller is dominated by the ruins of Ortenberg and Ramstein castles.

park the car at the TAENNELKREUZ chapel then go up along the mountain..pass through the Scherwiller orientation table and then dive into the Scherwiller vineyards..then in Chatenois take the direction of the track under the high voltage and follow the Giessen to then land at the Selestat fitness trail. for the more courageous, continue the walk with the greenway of an additional 14km around Selestat between meadow town and forest.
