This was developed in the years 1910 to 1912 by his father Theodor Zais (1855-1930), which led to a significant increase in tourism in Niederlahnstein.
In gratitude, the local tourist office had a memorial plaque put up in the middle of the gorge. The cast iron plaque contains the portrait of Theodor Zais with the inscription "The developer and protector of this gorge, Mr. Theodor Zais, dedicated 1910 to 1930 by the Niederlahnstein tourist office".
