The Old Post Office is a historic building constructed in 1892 and originally decorated with sandstone portals, window frames, and cornices as part of the Wilhelmstadt district development. The building was severely damaged during the 1945 siege, losing its roof and characteristic towers, but was rebuilt in 1954 in a simplified architectural form before ceasing postal operations in 1991.

The structure houses several interesting features including an unfinished nuclear bunker beneath the building, a 19th-century vault that once stored valuable items, and original glazed bricks, while German inscriptions from the wartime period occasionally resurface on the facade despite attempts to remove them.
