The origins of the town hall date back to the late 13th century, when a watchtower was built, constituting the oldest part of the complex. It was likely constructed shortly after the town was founded by Konrad I of Głogów.

The town hall tower, originally medieval, has been modernized several times. Its final pre-war appearance, which we see today after its reconstruction, dates back to a design from 1720.
