The interesting castle stables, which can still be easily seen in the grounds, have been archaeologically examined and historically authenticated since the beginning of the 13th century.
On site corresponding information boards are set up.

The fort is located at about 396 meters above sea level on the long back of the Stiefenberg over Baunach. The relatively small, rectangular core castle is protected in the east by only about three meters deep neck trench. The ditch runs on both sides of the main castle cone as a trench or berm Here, the inner ditch, which is up to five meters deep, is presented with a massive ridge, and in front of the wall there are two further ditches, two to three meters deep, with intermediate ramparts. The middle wall was partially cleared by a small quarry and seems to have dug to the north or not continued.
In an assumed emergence of the castle around the year 1196 appears in particular the western rampart system as typologically obsolete. On the plateau of the Kernburg some remains of sandstone blocks are preserved. Several pits with brick remnants and rubble mark the locations of the castle buildings. "
