Originally the strand coming from Herrenstrunden perished before the Rhine in the Thielenbruch marsh. In the 6th century, the stream bed was artificially extended to the current and the swamp area was drained. The extended stretch flows north of the former swamp area, and the artificially created Faulbach, a branch of the stretch, flows to the south.

The Strunderadweg starts at Wiener Platz in the center of Cologne-Mühlheim and leads along the Strunde on mostly flat roads with little or no traffic, past many sights, numerous former mills and crossing beautiful nature reserves and forest areas.
Of course, the tour can also be done in the opposite direction. There are always opportunities for a cozy retreat.
