Monreal with its flair, the winding alleys, the old, historic half-timbered houses. The history of Monreal, the alleys and castles offer an exciting trip that you should definitely treat yourself to.

Monreal lies in the valley basin of the Elzbachtal, wedged by gentle Eifel hills. A picture-perfect village. So magical that you might think you're entering a museum village. The facades of the red half-timbered houses are lavishly decorated with geraniums in summer and the small Elzbach, which flows through the town center, gives the place a romantic atmosphere. Small bridges connect the two banks of the river and offer a beautiful view of the half-timbered backdrop. And the remains of the Lions and Phillips castles are enthroned high above the village.

Nine kilometers from Mayen and thus only a stone's throw from Koblenz, you will find yourself in Monreal in the middle of the Vulkaneifel. There are great hiking trails to discover around Moneral, the most beautiful is probably the dream path “Monreal Ritterschlag” which starts right in the center and leads over the two castle ruins once around Monreal. If you have less time, you can just follow the narrow path up to the castles and from there enjoy the wonderful view of the Eifel and experience the place from a bird's eye view.

The two-arched Johannes Bridge dates from around 1500 and spans the Elz. On one side of the bridge is the wayside cross with the four lion figures from the 16th century and on the other side is the sculpture of Johannes Nepomuk from 1803.
