Tips
  • It's worth going up by bike because you get a great view as a reward (provided the weather cooperates). The almost 600 meters of altitude 📈 over a few kilometers show you that you have either prepared well or poorly and that you have to have a lot of trust in the brakes on the bike on the descent. 😇

  • From the Pfänder you have a fantastic view down to Lake Constance and in the other direction over the mountains of the Vorarlberger Land.

  • It is possible to take bicycles with you on the Pfänderbahn.
Bicycles cost €6.80 per wheel and are free from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

  • The Pfänder is Bregenz's local mountain and the most popular vantage point on Lake Constance. It is at an altitude of 1064 m and on a clear day you can see 240 peaks in the Alps all the way to the Black Forest.

  • I've hiked the Pfänder many times and wanted to try to reach the Pfänder by e-bike. I chose the tour from Bregenz-Vorkloster via Lochau. I only drive on paved roads. The paths around the Pfänder are traffic-calmed and you are not allowed to drive on them. Not even by bike.
For those who don't want to venture down the descent, you can also use the Pfänderbahn for the journey. Currently you still have to pay EUR 7.10 per person for the bike (as of 2022).
All in all a nice e-bike ride.

  • Cool tour from Bregenz to the Pfände. A bit steep in places. The great panoramic view at the destination makes up for this. Create route markings approx. 800 m before the destination. Don't say anything and drive through. Despite the “strictest driving ban” there are bike racks at the destination….

  • I think that a ride on the Pfänderbahn is actually a must for visitors to Bregenz. Once on the mountain, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over Lake Constance and can enjoy the Alpine panorama. For cyclists, it is even free to take your bike with you from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. For a one-way bike ride, €11.30 is not too expensive.
Various cycle paths then lead back to Bregenz.

  • The best way to enjoy the view is if you came up by bike or on foot
