The provost church of S. Giovanni di Bioggio (m. 691) is, in fact, one of the most characteristic places of the entire Coast of the Cech. It is located in an enchanting clearing on the top of a beautiful wooded knoll, above Traona and to the west of the deep Vallone di S. Giovanni, which separates it from Mello. At the lower end of the clearing the remains of fortification structures can still be seen, which attest to the strategic importance of the place. It is of medieval origin, but underwent a remarkable transformation in the 16th century, when it was enlarged and the original, which faces south, was replaced at the original entrance facing east. In the following century, and precisely in 1639, the imposing double staircase in serizzo was built, which allows you to climb up to this entrance.
