The start of the West Highland Way is very urban, and the first section will feel more like a country park. Good paths and signs will lead you out of the town towards Loch Lomond.

Not far from the starting point there is a supermarket, an ATM and numerous cafes and restaurants. Good for doing last-minute errands or not lugging everything to Milngavie.

All in all, I have to say that there are some shopping opportunities and small shops at the campsites along the way. The price was also okay, the small campsite shops were sometimes not much more expensive than Coop, Tesco and Co.

I had planned the tour completely with tent and wild camping and next time I wouldn't carry all my food with me from the beginning. Various utensils such as gaffer tape etc. are also available on the way if necessary and can also be bought if necessary. One is generally not as isolated as from civilization.

Have fun on the tour! A really beautiful landscape awaits you! Especially after the 'Bridge of Orchy', when it really goes into the Highlands, the beauty of Scotland becomes even clearer!

Small tip for the end of the tour, take the night train from Fort William back to London or Edinburgh. The famous 'Caledonian Sleeper' drives you through the breathtaking Highlands for hours and offers a wonderful graduation. Sleeping cabins are quite expensive but even the seats offer very good comfort.
