"Maria Pia," also known as "Farol da ponta Temerosa" or "Farol da Praia," is the Praia lighthouse and is located on "Ponta Temerosa" east of Praia's harbor entrance. The lighthouse, which is open to visitors and used for navigation, was built in 1881 and named after the then Queen of Portugal.
