In 1775 the Polish state was divided and occupied by the Austrian and Russian empires. After the war, Sultan Abdülmecit opened the area where Polonezköy is today to the settlement of Polish immigrants.
The village church was, of course, dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa.
