The Sugar Loaf in Franconian Switzerland with its approx. 515 meters altitude has nothing to do with its Brazilian namesake in Rio. There is also no oversized Jesus figure on the summit. Only a summit cross and a bank on which you can enjoy this magnificent view. The view falls on the Wiesenttal, Leinleitertal, on Ebermannstadt and Streitberg.
In the west to Walberla. To the east, the view ends in the narrow valley to Streitberg. Opposite you can see the lobster stone.
The summit cross was built in 1947 by war returnees. To the "sign of thanks and memorial of peace".

Once you have decided on one of the two hiking trails for the "ascent" to the Sugarloaf Mountain, you will be rewarded in beautiful weather with a magnificent view. Even for someone who wants to see the home from a different perspective, there is much to discover, if you let your eyes wander. To the left the Walberla, to the right the Wiesental and directly in front of the nose of the Hummerstein and behind the castle Greifenstein. A visit to the Sugar Loaf is definitely worth it and also bring some time to enjoy the area during a break!
