The Urteilsplatz (Judgment Square) is one of the central squares in Lahr's city center and holds both historical and contemporary significance as a hub of civic life.

The name "Urteilsplatz" derives from the fact that justice was dispensed and judgments pronounced here in the open arcades and galleries of the Old Town Hall – the pillory once stood at the southeast corner of the town hall.
