In the section ARA Buchs to Ochsensand, a renatured riverbed was designed over a length of almost two kilometers. The channel with shallow water zone is up to 60 meters wide. The aim of the large-scale project was to create a revitalized paradise for humans, animals and nature.
After the diversion of the water into the renatured riverbed, the old, straightened river course of the canal was filled up. After that first replant afforestations of the area took place.
