🏰 Croy Castle – hidden gem in the Brabant landscape

Between the fields and forests near Aarle-Rixtel lies the beautiful Croy Castle, an idyllic picture in the middle of the Brabant countryside. This robust castle has stood here since the 15th century as a silent witness to the rich history of the region.

Croy Castle was built around 1477 by the Van der Brugghen family. The classic brick walls, the characteristic round towers and the beautiful moat make the castle one of the best preserved examples of late medieval architecture in North Brabant. The castle has been renovated several times, but has retained its authentic charm.

The beautiful Croy estate extends around the castle, with old avenues, orchards and nature reserves. Here you will find peace, babbling brooks and often grazing sheep or cows. In the immediate vicinity there are beautiful cycling and walking routes that lead past small chapels, farms and typical Brabant villages.

Today, the castle is privately owned and cannot be visited from the inside, but from the surrounding walking and cycling paths you have beautiful views of the imposing buildings. At the nearby Croy brewery and restaurants, you can enjoy local specialties after a nice walk, including the beer that bears the name of the castle: Croy Beer.

Anyone who passes Croy Castle will taste a piece of medieval atmosphere, in the middle of nature. It is a wonderful stopover for those who really want to experience Brabant.
